The Vineyard
The Cumitasanna Vineyard is an unexpected discovery that, like the best stories, marks the beginning of a fascinating journey. In 2019, we acquired Cumitasanna, located in the scenic region of San Leonardo in Sant’Antonio di Gallura in Sardinia. This eight-hectare estate, set nearly 300 meters above sea level, holds a legacy that began in the 1980s. Here, Pasqualino Pasella, with vision and passion, planted the first Vermentino vines, sharing his harvest with the Cantina Gallura cooperative.
Nestled within the characteristic Sardinian Mediterranean scrub, Cumitasanna is a place where mature Vermentino vines sink their roots deep into granite—a defining element of this unique terroir. Granite and Vermentino unite in a harmonious dance, with the heartbeat of Cumitasanna pulsing through each row of vines.
Cumitasanna is more than a vineyard; it’s a tale of passion, tradition, and nature. Here, among the hills of Gallura, Vermentino finds its most authentic expression, embraced by the land that enhances its character and tells its story—a story of granite, sun, and soul.
Our story
Dmitry and Ludmilla first visited Sardinia twenty years ago and were instantly captivated. The stunning landscapes, unspoiled nature, rich cultural heritage, and welcoming spirit of the people made a lasting impression. The island’s fine wines, especially Vermentino, deepened their connection to this land.
Their love for Sardinia grew so strong that, ten years later, they decided to leave Latvia and make the island their permanent home. They settled along a picturesque northern cliffside, the perfect place to savor the sea, nature, and tranquility—all within reach of Gallura’s celebrated vineyards.
With a passion for good food and wine, Dmitry and Ludmilla—an exceptional cook herself—soon grew fascinated by the local winemaking. They discovered Vermentino, the 'true Vermentino' that thrives in Gallura’s unique granite soils.
After a few years in Sardinia, they stumbled upon an extraordinary place: a vineyard of breathtaking beauty, with nearly forty-year-old vines—a rarity in Gallura. This remarkable discovery sparked the creation of Cumitasanna, a project of passion and a lifelong dream that Dmitry and Ludmilla now bring to life each day, with deep love for this extraordinary land.
